Dr. Bipin R Shah

Dr. Bipin R Shah is an Ophthalmologist based in Mumbai, who is currently practising at Navyajyot Eye Hospital (Santa Cruz East), Eye Care Centre (Matunga) and Laser Vision International Centre (Bandra). His main areas of specialisation are phacoemulsification with foldable lens, non-phaco small incision sutureless cataract surgery, Lasik eye surgery, glaucoma surgery and medical retina - fundus fluorescein angiography and posterior segment lasers. He also has considerable experience in areas such as USG-B scans and contact lens practice. Dr. Shah has performed over 15,000 cataracts with IOL, more than 11,000 phacoemulsification surgeries and around 8,500 small incision cataract extractions with IOL (non-phaco).

Dr. Shah has a string of impressive qualifications to his credit. After the completion of his MBBS, he went on to obtain a Diploma in Ophthalmology and cleared the Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) exam, also in Ophthalmology. In addition, he also has obtained the Post-Graduate Diploma in Medico-Legal Systems and the ICO (London) affiliation. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Glasgow.

Dr. Bipin Shah has held various posts in his professional career, which commenced in 2001. He has been serving as Consultant Eye Surgeon at Kurla Lions Medical Centre, Mumbai, since 2000. In March 2001, he took up Honorary Consultancy at Netra Jyot Eye Hospital, Khandeshwar, until November 2002. Concurrently, he worked in three other places, viz. as Honorary Consultant at the Yuvak Mandal Charitable Trust (Aug 2001 onwards), as Consultant at Shakuntal-Chitra Nursing Home, Bandra (Oct 2001 to Nov 2002), and along with Dr. Chhottalal Shah in Ghatkopar (May-Nov 2002). In December 2002, he moved to the Manav Eye Hospital in Dadar as Head of the Department, and subsequently went on to honour his further professional commitments. Earlier in his career, while pursuing his academics, Dr. Bipin Shah was also involved in training, having served as Assistant Lecturer at the BJ Medical College and the KEM Hospital, Pune.
